Encelium’s New Interactive Lighting Showroom Controller Optimizes
Lighting Display Environments, Increases Sales and Saves Energy
Totally customizable touch-screen display system permits customer control of
any showroom lighting zone, cloud or fixture, pays for itself in energy savings.
PHILADELPHIA, PA—January 1, 2006—Encelium Technologies, Inc.’s new Lighting Showroom Controller (LSC) is an integrated hardware and software-based lighting showroom control system that provides an unprecedented degree of customer interaction down to the individual fixture level. Housed in a compact, attractive cabinet for installation on the showroom floor, the Lighting Showroom Controller allows individual on/off and dimming control at the individual fixture, zone (group of fixtures), or cloud (group of zones) level. Using simple touch-screen commands, the LSC makes toggling between selection options as easy as tapping outside the dialog box to bring up the next menu of choices.
The LSC’s main system screen provides a “bird’s eye view” of the showroom floor layout, from which users may zoom in on increasingly narrower fields of interest. A specific zone-level screen, for example, provides an individual likeness of each fixture in that zone. The user is then able to select the entire zone for on/off or dimming control, or go the next level down to focus on a specific individual fixture.
“The Lighting Showroom Controller provides a level of customer interaction that has never been available before, and in so doing greatly improves the quality of the sales experience by facilitating an informed purchase decision,” said Don Millstein, Encelium President & COO. “The showroom itself benefits from a high-tech display environment that cuts overhead costs while presenting the product in a natural setting that lets customers see exactly how the lighting product will perform in their own home or office.”
As an energy management strategy, the LSC pays for itself through reduced energy consumption, offering a typical system payback of 2-3 years. Providing the ability to selectively illuminate the display floor allows lighting showrooms to realize significant energy savings through lower overall consumption, lower HVAC costs due to minimized heat generation, and lower peak demand.
The LSC works with any type of showroom lighting, including incandescent, fluorescent, HID, etc. A unique aspect of the system is Encelium’s DMX interface which uses standard DMX communications protocols for dimming and switching incandescent lights. Each Encelium DMX controller can control 31 channels. Individual fluorescent fixtures (120, 277 or 347V) are controlled via Encelium’s universal I/O module. Standard 0-10V dimming ballasts can be dimmed and switched with the I/O module as well. Offering fast and easy installation, the highly scalable LSC is easily adaptable to expanding showroom needs.
Available now, Encelium offers a broad-based support package for the Lighting Showroom Controller. In addition to sales training modules and full documentation, a toll-free help desk number is provided to access the company’s network of technical sales and support personnel. All system commissioning is handled by Encelium and systems integrators, thus ensuring a speedy, turnkey installation that will have the showroom up and running within a few days.
